Hopefully all the info you need, please drop me a line at nialltodd@hotmail.com if any queries.

Charity bike ride and BBQ - Saturday September 17th! This is being organised by Niall and Claire Todd, with very kind assistance from Tavistock Wheelers CC (especially Martin Williams). The event is an Audax style ride, with information to gather and questions to answer en route - which will translate into prizes later in the day. They'll be decent prizes too, stuff you might actually want/use! 3 distances to choose from - a family friendly 10, a testing 25 and a solid 50. Each route will have a cafe stop or two available, so plenty opportunity to stop and take a load off for a while.

'HQ' is at Chez Todd, which is Moenek House in Drakewalls, PL18 9EL. Up the big hill in Gunnislake (those of you doing the 50 will enjoy this!), past the garage and left down the side of Delaware primary school. The school have kindly let us use the car park for the event, so park in there and we're straight across the road. Car park is available 9am to 9pm, though there's other space around if you need to park outside those hours. Also plenty of safe space for bike storage at our place too, plus room to get changed if required. THIS PIC and THIS OTHER PIC should be all the directions you need.

No official start time but we're planning to start the BBQ 3ish, so the aim is to be back around then. There'll be drinks, eats, tunes and general merriment and fine weather (fingers crossed!) into the evening... maybe also a timed Wattbike sprint challenge!

The charity in question is Shelterbox, charity based in Cornwall which provides vital assistance to those who have lost pretty much everything. Here's a Wikipedia link which will give you a good idea of what they do and why. Each of us paying a few bob to ride our bikes (yes, appreciate that's generally free!) and chuck in a few more bob for a drink and a bite can add up to a life changing thing for someone somewhere desperately in need of help, so that's the plan.

So what's this going to cost you fine folks? Entry for the ride is £5 per head, with under-14s free (though feel free to pay for them anyway!). There will be food and drinks from 3 onwards, for which we'll do one of those 'suggested donation' things... a notional minimal amount per burger, per drink etc. So please come with a few bob for eats and drinks, or lots of bob if you're a bit of a gannet (Hi Dean!)

'Registration' will be at Chez Todd from 10am until midday, please come along and sign on, pick up your question sheet and what not. We'll also have a quick bit of info to talk you through with regards the H&S/Risk side of things - e.g. hard shell lid required, pointing out any risky junctions etc, just a couple of minutes' worth. We're imagining folks will do this in teams of 2/3/4 but by all means feel free to do solo or in larger teams. There'll be one 'question sheet' per team, regardless of team size. In terms of payment this can be made on the day - however can we PLEASE request that if you are planning to come join us then please let us know and pay in advance, this will help with planning for BBQ prep and the like. Payment can be made via this Virgin Money Giving page. This is the best mix of maximising via gift aid and minimal fee for the service. When paying at Virgin Money please email Niall at nialltodd@hotmail.com and let me know names/numbers. Feel free to pass the link to others who you think might like to make a donation regardless of the ride/BBQ - all helps!

Please come along, give the charity some support and enjoy a nice outing on 2 wheels and an excuse for a burger and a beer (don't worry Martin, we'll have some cider in too!). Any questions, nialltodd@hotmail.com. Thanks! N&C.

Click on the pics below and they'll take you to MapMyRide info for your ride, where you'll be able to download a file for your Garmins. We'll also provide a paper copy of route notes on the day, once again a la Audax, should you wish to navigate that way.
